So it's been a week since my last post. I'm currently losing my marbles - I know no one asked but I thought it best to put that out there as a disclaimer before continuing.
We are flying to Utah tonight - please no one be offended if we don't see you or call you. We're going for a wedding in Toby's family and we'll just be there for the weekend. A quick little trip which I'm hoping will be nice and not so much trouble that I start to wish we would have stayed home . . . we'll see.
Things are CRAZY at work. We have a new gal that has no prior tax experience, which means I'm left to handle all the incoming October 15th extension deadline crap. And let me tell you, people that extend their tax return deadline and wait till October to file don't do so because they're lazy - they do so because their crap is freaking complicated! So work is tough, but what else is new?
Audrey has FINALLY moved beyond her army-commando crawl to a normal up-on-all-fours crawl. Which is a relief to my mother who I'm sure was convinced she would be illiterate if she didn't master crawling. Long story. She also pulls herself up on EVERYTHING and walks around things. I'm dreading the day when she lets go and can walk anywhere she wants to. At least right now I know she'll be near the furniture. She has also, much to our dismay, mastered crawling up, but not down, the stairs. Oh heavens! Twice in the last 3 days we've found her halfway up the stairs - panic ensues.
Tysen is still the same smart and funny kid. He loves school and is still deciding if he likes soccer - it depends on the day. He is so worried we won't pack the items he wants to take on the trip so when I got home from work yesterday afternoon, he had his backpack crammed full of crap he wanted to take with us. He then told me I didn't need to worry about packing his stuff - it was taken care of. "Do you have underpants in your backpack for the trip?" (picture the 'thinking kid' look here where he bites his lower lip and looks up and to the right) "Ummmmm . . . hang on a second" and he peels off up the stairs. "Ok, I have underpants." "We're going to be there for 4 days, do you have 4 pairs of underpants?" And off he goes again. I then told him I would pack his clothes and jammies and he just needed to pack a bag of stuff to do on the plane. Much less stress that way. I can handle it if he forgets the red crayon but I really need him to have underpants and socks so it's just easier on me to take care of those things. Actually, let's be real here - Toby packed all of Tysen's things. I got the baby's stuff together. We have "his and hers" children. It works for us.
So that's about all for now. I don't have much to say but it is practically against my religion to go a whole week without posting something! I believe everyone should adopt that - it's very disappointing to click on blogs and see the same heading post for a month or more.

My sweet friend, Sara and her husband, Isaac are trying to adopt. I've known Sara for probably 15 years. They are two of the most amazing people I know. Please check out their adoption blog at http://ourhopetoadopt.blogspot.com/ to learn more about them. They will be the BEST parents and if anyone can do anything to help them, please let me know!

Quote for the day
'Whatever you give a woman, she's going to multiply. If you give her sperm, she'll give you a baby.If you give her a house, she'll give you a home. If you give her groceries, she'll give you a meal.If you give her a smile, she'll give you her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her.
So - if you give her any crap, you will receive a ton of $#!/.'

What's in a name?
What Emily Means |
![]() You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone. You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together. At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together. You are confident, self assured, and capable. You are not easily intimidated. You master any and all skills easily. You don't have to work hard for what you want. You make your life out to be exactly how you want it. And you'll knock down anyone who gets in your way! You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing. You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long. You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start. You are relaxed, chill, and very likely to go with the flow. You are light hearted and accepting. You don't get worked up easily. Well adjusted and incredibly happy, many people wonder what your secret to life is. You are a free spirit, and you resent anyone who tries to fence you in. You are unpredictable, adventurous, and always a little surprising. You may miss out by not settling down, but you're too busy having fun to care. |

Tysen Loves Soccer
Tysen had his first soccer game last weekend. He had so much fun! Most of the kids on his team are new to soccer and the team they played in their first game has had all those kids together for 3 seasons so pretty much they got slaughtered. But he came home and told Grandma Day that they won! His coach tells them if they had fun then they won.

What's bugging you?
Here's what's bugging me (this is the short list)
1. If you're dropping you kid off at school and there is any reason whatsoever for you to put your car into park, undo your seatbelt, turn the vehicle off, take your keys out, and leave the vehicle, then for the love of everything holy just pull into a parking space and don't block the drop off area for the other 87 parents with kids who need to go to school this morning as well.
2. If you own or run a small business, don't bring a years worth of accounting work into your accountant's office THREE DAYS BEFORE THE DEADLINE!!!! You've had since December 31st of last year to get this stuff into us - I'm pretty sure you can find time in the 9.5 months before the extension deadline to pull together your info and bring it in. Especially sine our office has been calling you EVERY WEEK SINCE FEBRUARY!!!! And please don't try to placate me by apologizing when it's clear you do this every single year.
3. If you are LDS, please don't assume everyone in the world you come into contact with needs to be and will be converted by you personally. I have a coworker who is not LDS, has never had the discussions, and has no real interest in religion whatsoever. Neither does her family. Her oldest child received as a wedding gift from a friend a big huge matted piece containing the words "Families are Forever" and a copy of the Proclamation to the Family and a picture of Christ. It was very nice, but really? They have no use for this item! It's now in my living room because they didn't know what to do with it. And, not to be picky, but according to our doctrine, their family won't actually be forever if they're not sealed in the Temple so that phraseology doesn't even apply to this couple! Seriously! Just give them a Book of Mormon if you want to share with them but that huge thing for a wedding gift? Just don't.

I can't get enough of this kid
Last night I was downstairs getting Audrey's nighttime bottle ready and Toby was upstairs in the bedroom watching TV and he had Audrey with him. Tysen was in bed reading. I hear Tysen yell "hey dad! are you missing something?" and Toby said "yeah, I guess so" and Tysen said "does it have 2 legs". Apparently Audrey had escaped from Toby and crawled into Tysen's room. I thought he was just funny the way he said that!
Here's another thing he did a few weeks ago. Sometimes when he has a bad dream Tysen will come in and sleep on our floor. Usually it's the middle of the night if he comes in, but one night he came in at like 10:30 and we weren't asleep yet. He laid down on the floor where he usually does and he'd been quiet for a few minutes. I thought he was asleep and Toby and I were ready to go to sleep too and I said to Toby "goodnight, I love you" and Tysen groggily replies "love you too mom". We just chuckled that he was still half awake and listening.

So he was right . . . for once
Last night we're laying in bed channel surfing and there was absolutely nothing on. So Toby stopped on GSN because who doesn't love a good rerun of a 70's game show? So we're watching some random cheese-tastic show called "Double Dare" (not the Nickelodeon version) and the host looks vaguely familiar in his 70's fro and thick moustache and grey bell-bottomed suit.
I was thinking it was the guy from the old TGIF show Step By Step - you know the "modernized" Brady Bunch show that lasted WAY too many seasons and has Suzanne Sommers in it of all people? Anyone remember that? So I thought it was the guy from that show and Toby was like, no, that's Alex Trebek from Jeopardy. We argued the point during the commercial and it turned out it was in fact Alex Trebek.
Now, Toby doesn't often win arguments in our house, especially ones involving anything remotely pop culture related. He leaped on top of the mattress and proceeded into an embarrassing display of victory dancing and singing. This went on for a solid 3-4 minutes. I was crying I was laughing so hard. Maybe I should let him be right more often - apparently it's entertaining!
